Buckeyes are an extremely rare breed that originated in Ohio. They are known for their cold hardiness, good foraging availability, and good production of brown eggs. Plumage is a rich, dark red very similar to the Rhode Island Red, with a pea comb. They weigh from 5-8 pounds. The hens should set.

We are sold out of the Buckeye until spring 2010, and will ship them in February, March, and April. we usually sell out of them before February, it is a good idea to order before January for this breed.
